Northern News Dispatch welcomes clear, careful pitches about how readers can make better sense of local and regional news. A useful contribution gives readers a way to examine a story, not a shortcut to a verdict.

What we welcome

Propose an accessible explainer about headlines, sourcing, framing, context or the way a local issue is represented. We are interested in evergreen ideas that can be handled responsibly without invented examples, unsupported claims or specialist advice.

What makes a good pitch

Send a short outline of the central question, the reader takeaway, the material you would rely on and why the subject suits Northern News Dispatch. Name any uncertainties or limits early, and show how your idea differs from coverage we already have.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please do not send confidential material or assume a response by a particular date.
